These ceremonies mark the spiritual commencement of the nine-day festival and set the divine energy for all events that follow. Ankurarpanam – The Seed-Sowing Ceremony Ankurarpanam, performed on the eve of Brahmotsavam, is the ritualistic sowing of seeds to invoke prosperity and purity before the festival begins.
