Dhanteras — The Auspicious Beginning of Deepavali
"The festival of Dhanteras (highly celebrated in Northern region)falls during Kārthikai Māsam, a sacred month that illuminates homes and hearts with devotion and lamps - Auspicious Beginning of Deepavali, illuminating homes and hearts alike, and continuing the month-long celebration of devotion, lamps, and divine grace.
On this day, devotees worship Lord Dhanvantari for health, well-being, and divine protection.
Most of them consider this day auspicious to buy gold, silver, or utensils, symbolizing prosperity and blessings in the home.
Homes are decorated with lamps (dīpas), beautifully continuing the tradition of lamp-lighting from Kārthikai Māsam.
According lunar calendar Dhanteras falls on October 18 2025 , Saturday.
Dhanteras comes two days before the new moon, on Trayodashi (13th lunar day of Krishna Paksha), marking the auspicious beginning of the Deepawali festival.

2. Naraka Chaturdashi / Choti Diwali – victory of light over darkness
3. Deepavali / Lakshmi Pujā (Amāvasyā) – wealth, prosperity, and divine grace
4. Govardhan Puja / Annakut – offering to Lord Krishna
